Law Society of YukonThe Canadian Bar Association – Yukon Branch is pleased to announce that its 2022 Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk will take place on Friday May 13, 2022, at noon. This will mark the 31st edition of the Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk, and the first in-person edition since 2019.
Since its inception, the Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk has been an opportunity for members of the legal profession in the Yukon to connect with the broader community and support a local charity. Each year, the Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk focuses on a theme related to the practice of law. This year’s theme is Food Security.
Each year, the Fun Run chooses a different charity to receive funds raised from sponsorship and donations to the Fun Run. The theme for Law Day 2022 is ‘Food Security.” This year the recipient charity is the Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition’s Backyard Community Garden Program. The Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition facilitates the elimination of poverty in the Yukon through awareness, advocacy, and action. Their members are an action-based team who partner with other community members on issues involving food, shelter, and access to services. The YAPC’s backyard garden program has been a great success, which has been able to address food insecurity by growing nutritious and fresh foods, offer healthy community engagement and provide opportunities for tenants, community members and our staff to learn and participate in local gardening. All proceeds from the run with be donated to support the initiative.
So, after a long Yukon winter we invite you to embrace spring, lace up on that lunch beak and join us for a great cause.
