Description: Chris Sinclair will discuss a wide range of insolvency topics, including a brief overview of options available to Debtors and Creditors, current trends in the industry, a review of how Trustees earn fees, issues surrounding death estates and family situations, bankruptcy discharges, and more. He will also take questions to try to address any burning insolvency topics on the minds of the audience!
Bio: Chris Sinclair oversees the BDO insolvency practice for British Columbia, primarily including the B.C. Interior region and the Greater Vancouver Area. He is also licensed to practice in the Yukon. Chris has been advising businesses and individuals on insolvency matters since 2009. He spent the first 8 years of his insolvency career working with businesses and companies to restructure their debts through court-appointed receiverships, proposals to creditors, bankruptcies, and other non-legislative restructuring solutions. Since 2017, Chris has been helping individuals and small businesses navigate the challenging but rewarding process of debt relief. Through his broad range of experience, Chris can bring an empathetic and practical approach to solving problems and he provides his clients with solutions that are tailored to the specific situation and meet the client’s current and future objectives.
Chris obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in 2008. He has also been a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP) since 2014.
In his spare time, he likes to volunteer for his local Little League Baseball association and he also enjoys spending time on the golf course.
This CPD has been approved for 1 hour and 30 minutes by the Law Society of British Columbia and may be applied towards the mandatory 12 hour Continuing Professional Development requirement in both BC and Yukon.
