Click here for report titled “Access to Lawyers”, prepared by the Law Society of Yukon’s Access to Justice Committee. This report addresses the significant challenges that members of the public face in accessing legal services in Whitehorse and the communities.

The Law Society of Yukon, established under the Legal Profession Act, 2017, has a mandate to protect the public interest in the delivery of legal services by regulating lawyers and promoting access to justice. In alignment with this mandate, several years ago, the President and Past President of the Law Society of Yukon embarked on a tour of all the communities within Yukon to hear firsthand the concerns regarding access to legal services in the Yukon.

The valuable information gathered during these visits was subsequently provided to the Access to Justice Committee, which diligently continued this work. The culmination of their efforts is the enclosed report, which we hope will be helpful in understanding the issues related to accessing legal services in Yukon.

We hope this report will provide insight on the challenges in Yukon and assist with efforts to improve access to justice for all Yukoners.
