Bio:

Justice Susan Griffin is a judge of the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Court of Appeal of Yukon. She was appointed to those Courts in 2018 after ten years as a trial judge on the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Prior to her judicial career, Justice Griffin practiced a range of civil litigation in Vancouver, first in a litigation boutique for 14 years after her call to the Bar in 1985, and later with a national law firm.  Justice Griffin was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2005. Growing up in rural Ontario, she obtained her law degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, graduating in 1984. Later she obtained a Master of Laws with distinction from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1992.

Throughout her career, Justice Griffin has engaged in legal education and writing. Among other things, she is co-author of Fraser, Horn & Griffin, The Conduct of Civil Litigation in British Columbia, was regular faculty at the Winning Advocacy workshop, and played a lead role in developing the CLEBC Advocacy Toolkit, an award-winning video series on advocacy for junior litigators.

 

This CPD has been approved for 2.5 hours by the Law Society of British Columbia and may be applied towards the mandatory 12 hour Continuing Professional Development requirement in both BC and Yukon.
