Legal AI in Canada: What is it, Why it’s Important and Why You Need to Know

Description: In this session, we will delve into the critical aspects of responsible AI development, with a focus on the rapidly evolving field of Generative AI. We will explore the best practices that help ensure the safe and trustworthy deployment of these powerful technologies. Additionally, we will discuss the importance of transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement to mitigate potential risks. There will be a question-and-answer period to follow the presentation.

Presenter: Sophie Majeau is a Senior Director, Strategy & Marketing at LexisNexis Canada. She has been working at LexisNexis for over 25 years. Initially an Account Manager and Trainer for the Quebec and Northern New Brunswick region, she is now Senior Director Strategy & Marketing for Canada. As part of her duties, she contributes to analyzing customer needs as well as marketing products. She works closely with the company’s various divisions to offer the best solutions to clients such as Lexis+ and Lexis+AI. Ms. Majeau holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a certificate in journalism from the U. of Montreal, as well as a master’s degree in alternative dispute resolution from the Faculty of Law at the U. of Sherbrooke.

This CPD has been approved for 1.5 hours by the Law Society of British Columbia and may be applied towards the mandatory 12 hour Continuing Professional Development requirement in both BC and Yukon.
