Notice on National Law and National Family Law Programs July 2022

The Continuing Professional Development Committee of the Law Society of Yukon would like to inform you about the following programs offered through the Federation of Law Societies:

NATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW PROGRAM: Victoria from July 4 – 8, 2022. 

Join over 700 attendees and take in:

  • In-depth, high caliber and stimulating plenary sessions focusing on Criminal Procedure, Ethics and The Charter (Simultaneous Interpretation offered during at least 50% of plenary sessions)
  • Break-out Sessions focusing on Extradition, Garofoli Applications, Charter Applications, Regulatory Investigations and more. (Selected sessions offered in French)
  • Workshops exploring real-world issues in a small group, facilitated setting (Offered in French and English)
  • Two-part Writing Workshop
  • Mentoring Breakfasts for registrants with 5 years or less criminal law experience
  • Over 80 up-to-date papers exploring recent developments in Criminal Procedure, Ethics and The Charter
  • Over 20 hours of substantive content including 3+ hours of Ethics/Professionalism Hours 
  • Social events including the First-time Attendee Reception, Opening Reception and Closing Dinner (additional cost)

NATIONAL FAMILY LAW PROGRAM: Whistler from July 25 – 28, 2022

The biennial National Family Law Program is sponsored by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. The next edition will be held in beautiful Whistler British Columbia at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler from Sunday, July 24 to Thursday, July 28, 2022. The conference office will open the afternoon of Sunday, July 24, with an opening reception to be held early that evening.  The program is open to lawyers, judges, academics, articling students and law students in Canada.

Topics will include current issues and trends in family law, as well as topics related to the future of the practice of family law. There are also opportunities for networking and attending special interest sessions. Faculty selected are private practitioners, academics, judges, government representatives, financial experts and authors in the social sciences, from across Canada and from abroad.
